Improved spline quality by pre setting of heat treatment deviations

Involute splines can be produced extremely precisely in the soft process with a wide variety of forming processes. However, distortions occur in the subsequent heat treatment, which lead to significantly lower qualities, or even result in rejects.

  • The reasons of these delays are mostly different. Variations in material batches, component- or process-related cooling curves, or variations in the inductors have an influence on the hardness distortions in measurement over pins and in the spline taper.
  • In order to ensure excellent final quality, hardness distortions must be pre corrected in soft process.
  • With our state-of-the-art 8e-axis technology, both the measurement over pins and the spline taper can be corrected μ-accurately. This guarantees a high-precision end quality of the splines.
